UGS Mikstat Project

PICT0571.JPG

The goal of the UGS Mikstat project is to convert the Antonin natural gas field located near Mikstat in the Ostrzeszow county into an underground gas storage (UGS) facility. The planned capacity of the gas storage facility is 250 mln m3. The UGS will supply gas during the high-heating season (winter) and store it in the summer time.

Simultaneously, work is on-going to connect the UGS into the high-pressure natural gas network operated by the Gaz-System S.A.. A new 17 km long pipeline will be built to make the connection. It is estimated that the UGS will be in operation in year 2012 – 2013.

The gas currently being extracted from the geological structure in Antonin, the future place of the UGS, is being sold by DPV Service to the Polish Gas and Mining Company S.A. (PGNiG) network. When UGS Mikstat is connected the gas transport system, it will work well together with the PGNiG gas storage facilities balance the variance in regional gas consumption.
